Jobs in Jeopardy with Keystone XL on Hold

With plenty of backing from hard-core environmental groups, a handful of landowners are suing the State of Nebraska, seeking to block the recently passed law that would pave the way for Keystone XL.

But Gov. Dave Heineman makes it clear that this lawsuit will not stop the process of finding a new, environmentally safe route for the pipeline. As he says, if the state stopped every project every time they got sued, “we’d never get anything done.”

And a company in Georgia is adding workers to support their product line that make oil sands extraction better for the environment. Thousands of Georgia workers could eventually be employed in this industry—the company is still hiring engineers to help with their work.

Energy Citizens in every state are concerned about the long-term economic effects of the Keystone XL delay. The longer we wait, the more jobs we put at risk.

  • Sorry, but I support the landowners. Those pipelines are still very leaky and the chances of a major environmental hazard are too high. If a spill happens on someone''s farm fields, then that land can no longer produce food for many years to come, which destroys that family''s ability to generate income. If it happens on a park or nature preserve, then entire ecosystems are destroyed for future generations. Oil and gas are not the ultimate answer, we must find better ways to harvest energy from wind and solar, also further investment in the Tesla Coil could be enormously beneficial.

  • Climate change is effected 97% by water vapor, and 3% by man. One volcano will do more  climate change in one year than all of us humans in the world combined. Look it up.

  • We need to ignore everything the Enviro-ban-talist say. It is as we were listening to a bunch of chicken little''s, because for them the sky is always falling. It does not matter where in the USA we are working. They will bring a bunch of papers, with a bunch of opinions and present them , as if they were facts. You will hear them say, We can''t do this, or we can''t do that because maybe this will happen or maybe that will happen. They will always come up with excuses why we can''t do anything. They are at war against Free Enterprise. They will ban jobs anywhere in the whole USA, even if it kills families, jobs, opputunities, progress for the greater good, it does not matter to them, all to save a rodent or a lizard etc, etc, We need to get these beauracrats in govt out of there. They are un-elected, and yet they try to run our lives. They have hidden agendas that hurt our economy and our country and our future. We have a job to do, and it could take a few years and a few elections.

  • Hey Gov, Honorable Governor Sir,  Damn the environmentalist (socialst/communist, wanna be totalitarians), full speed ahead with KXL. Sir you are a hero. Be careful now how you folks in Nebraska spend your new found wealth. Lets not be drunkin sailors. Advice from this ex-navy swabby. Leo Garry. Macomb Twp Mi.

  • we already export more oil and gas than we use, yet we get no breaks on prices due to federal and state taxes. it has been determined that it is more profitable to import foreign and export domestic, so what possible good could come of more drilling? i vote for the environment!
