Michael from AlaskaThe prospect of our country losing more of our own domestic energy production, sending that overseas, at a time when the public is obviously upset with being dependent on foreign energy sources, it’s kind of a bad idea to increase that problem by basically attacking our on energy production at home.
Eugene from AlaskaThis bill will affect my job, increase my home utility costs and not properly address the issues associated with the title. Given our present economic environment, I have to ask how can Congress pass a bill which will reduce our energy output and kill jobs?
Judy from AlaskaI think that the timing of this bill is an absolute and total disaster, nothing short of disastrous proportions because our economy is so fragile and is just now starting to show some signs of recovery, and if this legislation is passed, its like taking us out at our knees.
Nearly 300 people gathered as part of an Energy Citizens Rally for Jobs and Affordable Energy at the Denai’ina Convention Center on Aug. 31, 2009.
A variety of speakers stood up to tell their stories, including Vince Beltrami, president of the Alaska AFL-CIO; Andre Halcro of AVIS Alaska; Linda Leary of Carlile Transportation Systems; Crystal Nygard, owner of Tutka LLC; and Tara Sweeney of the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation.
