Future of NY Natural Gas is Worth Fighting For

The title of this piece says it all: “The Future of Hydrofracking is Unclear in New York State."  While Energy Citizens know the importance of shale gas development to New York, it seems that the state is listening to the vocal minority of activists who are opposed to the jobs and economic development natural gas drilling will bring.

Gas drilling may be coming to some areas, however. As the story says, “there’s been increasing signs that the state might more slowly phase in the permitting of new gas wells, with preference going to communities or regions of the state that are more receptive to hydrofracking.”

This is why it’s so important for Energy Citizens to be active at all levels in the drilling debate. You did great work making sure the Department of Environmental Conservation heard why the state should approve hydraulic fracturing. But you also need to be sure that your local governments take a pro-development stance on this issue. Without your work to influence local decision-makers, where you live may miss out on the natural gas boom.

  • Yes natural gas is worth fighting for.  Fuel prices are high and we have an oportunity to cash in on this by being energy independent. Why not.  Our environmentalists are seriously misguided and aren''t even helping the environment.

  • New York will never back any good energy proposals as long as the Democrat''s have a hold on the state. We need to start electing people who really care about our state. That begins on the local levels. Get out and vote Nov 6th. The only thing we get now is the BS that too many people believe

  • If New York City or State or both ever come to Congress rattling a tin cup ever again Congress must tell New York, on a bi-partisan basis, "You have the azbility to solve you own fiscal problems but instead of doing so you are listening to ec-maniacs and other leftist filth who refuse to take the steps necessary to bring New York into the 21st Century."

New York has sqandered any good will it had after 9/11.

  • WE in NEW YORK state on LONG ISLAND pay one of the highest electric rates in the country  the more home drilled

gas oil we have in this country the less we fund a portion of middle east terrorist  groups and the lower the cost of fuel if all the control''s are taken off of drilling and extra fee''s added by our leaders

    Larry P. - New York
