Approximately 120 people attended the Energy Citizens Rally for Jobs and Affordable Energy at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln, Neb., on Sept. 5, 2009.
Organized by an alliance of 24 national groups and numerous local organizations, the rally was a forum where Americans from all walks of life—farmers, truckers, energy workers, homemakers and others—could express their views on American jobs and affordable energy.
The Nebraska rally was held to remind Congress that energy is the backbone of the U.S. economy.
A range of speakers shared their stories, including Nebraska Farm Bureau President and farmer Keith Olsen, farmer Ron Pavelka, former Husker football player and small business owner George Mills, Nebraska State Sen. Tony Fulton and small business owner Charles Starostka. Nebraska State Sen. and farmer Chris Langemeier emceed the event.
Attendees signed a petition urging Sens. Ben Nelson and Mike Johanns to reject costly climate change policies. View pictures from the event below.
