Houston's Energy Citizens Rally (and why was the Houston Chronicle ... http://bit.ly/RI3jn
Increase the cost of energy and the cost of everything will be higher, disposable income will decrease, and the US standard of living will suffer.
Great rally!! I became more aware of what is happening in Washington and with the current legislation. The speakers spoke from the heart and I liked the support of public citizens.

Farmer from TexasGlobal Climate Change is going to be really bad for farmers. Droughts, pests, reduced effectiveness of herbicides and pesticides with additional CO2 in the atmosphere, longer yet less productive growing seasons, increased severity and frequency storm events including tornadoes, hail and hurricanes, and smaller livestock. Massive food shortages are predicted to result from global climate change.
Arlen from TexasArlen is a petroleum engineer who has had a successful career producing oil and gas resources in a safe and environmentally conscious manner. He believes the solution to our energy needs is INNOVATION, not taxation. People who work in the energy industry today are passionate about our need to protect the environment. They have the creativity to meet our energy needs now and develop the cleaner alternative resources for the future.
David from TexasI provided Obama this same information when he asked people to provide him questions when he had the first e-town hall, but it was not supportive of cap & trade so it never came up. This tax and trade bill is not an energy bill. It’s a tax surcharge like Carter’s Windfall Profits Bill that collected hundreds of billions of dollars from the E&P sector and God knows where it was spent.
On August 18, 2009, Houston’s Verizon Wireless Theater was filled to capacity with about 3,500 Energy Citizens rallying for jobs and affordable energy.
Organized by an alliance of 23 national groups and numerous local organizations who have voiced concern about the Waxman-Markey climate bill, the rally was a forum where Americans from all walks of life—farmers, truckers, energy workers, homemakers and others—could could express their views on the legislation’s potential impact on their jobs and lives.
