According to a recent poll done by the Associated Press- NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, forty-seven percent, that’s about one-half, of Americans say they are “not likely” to transition to electric vehicles (EVs) for their next car purchase.    

And yet, the EPA is steamrolling ahead with regulations that would rapidly transition the country to EVs– requiring that 67% of new vehicles sold by 2032 be battery electric vehicles.   

Not only is this move unpopular, but it could also seriously impact our economy, vehicle choice, and transportation future.   

Here are a few points:   

• Last year, only 6 percent of new cars sold in this country were EVs. The EPA wants 10 times that number by 2032.    
• These rules could severely limit the number of gas-powered vehicles on the market, which could mean less vehicle choice to meet you and your family’s unique needs.   
• While many large cities are building their EV charging infrastructure, the suburbs and rural areas are still unequipped to add so many EVs on the road so quickly.    
• To produce electric vehicle batteries here in America, our country would have to seriously ramp up mining and processing of critical minerals like lithium, cobalt, manganese nickel, and graphite. This won’t happen unless we cut the permitting red tape, something this Administration has repeatedly failed to address.
