Some Harrisburg legislators seek to impose a new tax on the natural gas resources extracted from our state. 

This could have serious consequences:  

Jobs and Our Economy: The natural gas and oil industry continues to be a significant economic engine for Pennsylvania, supporting over 400,000 jobs and contributing millions of dollars annually to state and local governments. A new tax on the natural gas industry, which already pays more than its fair share through the impact fee, could prompt job cuts for Pennsylvanians.   

This Tax is Duplicative: Besides business taxes, the natural gas industry pays a unique tax – the impact fee – that has generated over $2.5 billion in funding for environmental and conservation programs, roads and bridges, infrastructure, public safety, and other critical projects since 2012.
